The Beginning
It all started back in 1961, with a part-time job at "Monkey Wards" for Dick's dad and a Weber grill demonstration. Back then, the Weber grill was touted as covered grilling, meaning the cover could be used to extinguish flare-ups and allow the charcoal to be used again. After an extravagant purchase of a $50 Webergrill (a crazy amount according to Mom!), the 70's created a decade's worth of memories of mushroom clouds of smoke and tasty burgers and chicken by Dad. That grill lasted 30 years and inspired an 18-year-old to adopt the tradition and carry it on for the next four decades. Today, Dick Allen continues to pay tribute tohis father with his love for grilling and the enjoyment he gets from cooking food that everyone can enjoy. From BBQ competitions, to birthdays, weddings and countless celebrations in between, his favourite moment is the expression on someone’s face when they taste something so good they want to call their mother!
